Microdermabrasion

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a type of exfoliation, using Crystal Clear technology to remove the outer layer of dead and flaking skin cells. This results in an immediate improvement in your skin’s appearance, improving elasticity, creating a smooth texture and reducing the signs of ageing. Microdermabrasion is highly effective at removing dead skin cells and can also be used to treat light scarring, stretch marks and sun damage.

Microdermabrasion is a straightforward, non-invasive procedure that usually takes about an hour. During your appointment, our expert will use a handheld device to gently remove the outer layer of skin in the targeted areas. At the end of the treatment, we’ll enrich and protect your skin using moisturiser and sunscreen.

Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types. The treatment offers instant results and there is no recovery time needed.

Crystal Clear microdermabrasion

At Ria, we’re proud providers of Crystal Clear microdermabrasion. Developed 25 years ago, Crystal Clear offers a safe, controlled method of skin exfoliation over a course of treatments, giving progressive rather than aggressive results. However, results can be seen even after the very first treatment.

Crystal Clear microdermabrasion sends a flow of crystals directly on to the skin surface. The speed and abrasive nature of the crystals gently remove the epidermal cells, layer by layer. Used crystals and dead skin cells are then removed through a vacuum action.

This controlled exfoliation removes surface irregularities, allowing smoother, fresher skin to emerge.

Benefits of microdermabrasion treatment

Extremely effective

Microdermabrasion is even more effective at removing dead skin cells than chemical peels, with less downtime.

Instantly visible and long-lasting results

Microdermabrasion treatment encourages cellular renewal, boosts skin elasticity, creates a smoother texture and reduces signs of ageing.

Makes skin products work harder

By removing the top layer of dead and damaged skin, microdermabrasion allows significantly improved absorption for skin products, making them more effective.

Frequently Asked Questions

Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion was developed some 25 years ago, and is the only true microdermabrasion treatment that utilises inert corundum crystals. These crystals are blasted at the skin’s surface, gently removing dead skin cells. A vacuum action removes the crystals and dead skin cells, leaving behind skin that is completely refreshed, smooth and glowing.
The reason clients love this treatment so much is its ability to offer instant results, with the benefit of being able to treat such a vast array of skin concerns, from ageing skin needing a quick pick-up to younger skin suffering from skin congestion. What’s more, it can also be used for highly effective body prep treatments.
The results of your microdermabrasion will typically last for about one month, although this will vary depending on your age and other factors. Many clients schedule regular appointments every four weeks.
Microdermabrasion treatments are designed to be painless. However, some people may experience some itchiness or light stinging during the procedure.
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types and is ideal for anyone looking to treat blotchy or uneven skin, large pores, age spots, superficial acne scars or fine wrinkles. However, microdermabrasion may be unsuitable for those with certain skin conditions, such as rosacea.
